Chief Marshal Position. Your committee for 2009 is Chairperson -
Teresa Stubbs, Secretary - Duncan Johnstone, Treasurer - Donna Jones,
Captain - Sharon Perry, Chief Marshal - Graham Hollidge.
Don Poulter has decided to stand down as Club Captain saying it was time to hand over to someone younger. Don, now 66 said, "Don't get excited - I'm not disappearing, I'll be skiing with the SSA for a long time to come!"
Don was presented with a framed photograph by the club as thanks for his time as Captain. Cap'n Don, we salute you! Long live Cap'n Shaz!
|SSA NEWS UPDATE - MAD MARCH!|
We’ve had a really good winter season so far
with all events taking place and no cancellations, lets hope for more of
the same for the coming season!
I expect you’ve seen this month’s Jetskier magazine by now with the Chilli Cruise write up by Cap’n Don, it was hand written and delivered to my door so I could type it up and get it sent in just before the deadline! So thanks Don for a fun read! If you’d like to do a write up of an SSA event then please do as we on the committee sometimes get a bit brain dead thinking of what to write and its always cool to get different perspectives on things.
So what’s happening in Mad March then?
On Sunday the 8th we’re down the slipway for the TT run and there’s been a few good times going in recently that you might struggle to better – Luke, after putting in a 12 min 50 sec lap on his RXT a couple of weeks ago, was unable to better his time on the last outing with a time of 13 min 1 sec. Johnny B done a 15.05 lap on his FX High Output but his run did coincide with some shipping movements that made it more challenging for him! Graham was the first to put in a lap on a stand up and managed an excellent 25 minutes on his Kawasaki SXR and I struggled round in a very respectable (if I do say so myself) 33 minutes on the possessed Superjet!
If 12 miles at full chat round the Solent isn’t your thing then why not come and support either by shadowing a rider (you don’t have to keep up just keep tabs on them) or doing some time keeping on the beach.
Then on Sunday 22nd we have the last of the Winter Raids. Through the “off season” we’ve had some well attended and fun days out in some pretty extreme conditions, we must be mad! - I’m sure I should have been washing the car or doing the garden or something else normal at the weekends! Haha! There was a write up on one of the raids (think it was November's or December’s all a bit blurry!) in January’s Jetskier mag and that was a rough day! www.jetskier.co.uk
Finally we have the AGM coming up on Sunday the 29th at Lee on the Solent Community Centre. You should have received notice of this in the mail recently. The meeting starts at 7.30pm so look forward to seeing you all there. I’ll have some membership renewal forms with me too so you don’t have to wait til the end of April to rejoin!
Now to end on a couple of outside events that you may wish to attend, the PWC Forums is having a weekend in aid of Comic and Sport Relief and Yamaha’s Wavefest is hitting the south coast in both Poole and Lee. Full details are on PWC Forums www.pwcforums.co.uk
See you on the water soon!
|WIGHT STUFF TO BE RUN BI-ANNUALLY|
By now most of you should have received the list of events for 2009 and some of you have already noticed that the Wight Stuff is missing from its usual spot in July. As you know the Wight Stuff has been a tremendous success and has raised many thousands of pounds for charity over the past 6 six years.
When finalising the 2009 calendar the committee had to consider the amount of work needed to plan and organise such a large event. We also have had to take into account the external support and goodwill that ultimately makes the Wight Stuff such a safe and successful day. It was a hard decision to make but the committee unanimously agreed that everyone involved needed a break and the Wight Stuff would become a biennial event with the next one being run in 2010.
We realise many of you will be disappointed that the Wight Stuff is not happening in 2009 but as you can see from the calendar we have plenty of other events to look forward to. The first one being the Chilli Cruise on Sunday 4th January – we look forward to seeing you at the slipway from onwards.
