|SSA Beach Party on Power FM!|
The SSA crew who turned up to watch the firework finale to Cowes week
tonight featured on a live link to Power FM radio. Sparky and
Ronaldo from the local radio station turned up at Lee on Solent to chat
with beach-goers at the seaside resort who were out in droves all along
the front to watch the spectacle. They pulled up at the Daedalus
slipway in their "Love Summer, Power FM" VW Beetle convertible, introduced
themselves to the group of thirty or so having a barbeque and never looked
further. "We're the Solent Skiers, Jet-ski club come and join us!"
They did and their search for quality radio footage was over!
Ronaldo handed out Power FM freebies including pens and car stickers while
Sparky interviewed SSA members on a live link back to the studio.
Sparky said, "The live links were quality, they certainly gave our listeners a feel for what's going on down here, thanks!"
The SSA party left the beach long after the fireworks finished and everyone else had gone home.

|Solent Skiers win award from RNLI|
A group of jet-ski enthusiasts that raised nearly £7,000 have been presented with an award at the south east’s awards ceremony in Poole.
The group, called The Solent Skiers Association, received their national award “runner up in best supporter category “ from David Brann, RNLI Director of Fundraising and Communications, last Saturday at the Lifeboat College, Poole.
For the last three years, The Solent Skiers has organised the Wightstuff Jet Ski Marathon around the Isle of Wight and raised money for the RNLI.
In 2003 they raised £2,500, followed by £1,300 in 2004. They also made up a table at an RNLI fundraising ball and supplied auction prizes. They again supported the local Southampton fundraising group at a Horse Race Night - the then chairman donated back his winnings from the evening. Last year they raised £3,134.70 from the Wightstuff Jet ski Marathon.
Theressa Stubbs, Chairman of the Solent Skiers, said: “We are delighted to receive this award. It’s lovely to receive recognition for the good causes we support.”
RNLI Area Fundraising Manager Fiona Heath said: “They are well-deserving of the award. They all work full-time and yet still manage to volunteer a huge amount of time for the event including risk management, ensuring that it is a huge success. Thanks to their hard work the RNLI has a high quality lifeboat service.”
The next Wight Stuff event is booked for 22 July this year with all the proceeds going to the RNLI.
